Memeria®, a pioneer in onsite photo scanning, is expanding its services to Atlanta, Georgia. As part of the company’s commitment to digitizing the community’s public and private collections, and to introduce the company's digitizing services to the Atlanta market, Memeria is offering its highly successful Historical Photo Digitization Grant. The grant now includes Kodak® digitization equipment as well as Memeria’s onsite digitizing services. Eligible organizations include all non-profit organizations operating in or serving patrons in the broader, Atlanta metropolitan area. Historical societies and archives are particularly encouraged to apply.
The Grant Digitization Services The grant of free on-site photo digitization services is designed to scan 500 - 5000, 8x10 or smaller photos toDVDs. The available resolutions of the scans are 300 to 600 DPI with TIFF, JPEG or PDF formats. The organization dictates their preference—usually according to their available archival storage and anticipated usage. Memeria provides all personnel, equipment, and DVDs for up to three, 8-hour work days. Pre-grant demonstrations are available upon request to familiarize interested archivists with our process and personnel. Rights to the scanned images remain with their original owners, and Memeria has no intellectual property ownership of any scanned image. The value of the services is estimated at $3000 - $5000. Digitization Equipment In addition to the digitization services, the recipient organization will receive the Kodak i1220 scanner, the scanning platform used by photograph scanning services nationwide, and a preferred platform for Memeria’s onsite photo-scanning service. The list price of the equipment is $1199. Recipient Requirements The recipient organization of Memeria’s Digitization Grant agrees to distribute a press release introducing the digitized collection and referencing Memeria’s sponsorship and Kodak’s technology for making it possible. The recipient is also required to post a subset of 10 images to their website within 3 months of completion of digitizing, referencing Memeria’s sponsorship and Kodak’s technology. Lastly, the recipient will grant Memeria the right to post 5 full-size scanned images from the collection on its own website as work samples demonstrating the quality of the digitized images.
