With our Scan Jam program, non-profit organizations can purchase scanning services at a significant discount and resell the services to their patrons and donors for the full retail price or slightly higher to

raise funds for their organization.

Most fundraisers require organizations to pay for goods to resell, leaving the fundraising organization to absorb the risk of unsold inventory.  Memeria’s Scan Jam process doesn’t require an initial cash outlay and there is no excess inventory remaining.  However many photos are received are scanned, and the fundraising organization receives proceeds whether 100 photos are scanned or 100,000.  Based on the success of the initial program, it’s a snap to repeat after the donor base has become familiar with the process.

Meeting a Common Need

Digital cameras allow people to share digital photos instantly.  Digital photos can also be easily reprinted, archived, accessed, and preserved for generations to come. But many of a person’s most precious photos are not digital, they’re physical.  And although they are some of the most prized possessions under a person’s roof, they aren’t very accessible and are at constant risk of deterioration and loss.  Scanning, or digitizing, physical photos makes digital images of the photos that can be used exactly like images from a digital camera.

Nearly everyone has a need to digitize their collection, but the process of scanning one’s own collection with a household scanner is a cumbersome and tedious one.  Most people can scan 10, maybe 20 photos in an hour—assuming the person doing the scanning is familiar with the process and their equipment. But most people have decades of photos numbering in the thousands—one shoebox alone can hold almost 1000 pictures. 

Memeria launched housecall photo-scanning services bringing commercial-grade scanners (scanning over 1000 photos per hour) to customer’s precious photos.  Now this service is the backbone of our Scan Jam events.
